"pleasure" of public transportation?  T6 you are one heck of a comedian.

When I was younger, I roasted many a tire(s) on my muscle-cars.  One 1970 Roadrunner seriously modified, a 383 cu. in. with 335 horses modified to 420 horses.    A 1967 Sport fury (two-door, with white leather interior, bucket seats, consul-shift).

When your girl-friend sits right next to you.... and you have to grab the shifter....

Well that is why some got married at a younger age........:-)

you know that i have been on both sides

have to use public transportation and have a car to move on the city and between cities

sometimes is better to use public transportation, other times the car is a blessing

it depends on the city, in bogota on certain hours you just hate everyone and everything, specially cars

in others you dream on not using public transportation and have your car or at least a bike

sometimes just sit down and listen to music in my smartphone makes me forget where i am  ;D

it is not the cost, it is the time and the complications derived on having your own car on a city that can't have another car

you can't park in the street, you need to use a parking lot, those are not everywhere when you need them

there is alot more to consider than just the cost

are you gonna stab me?  said the stabbed man  ;D

The other side of the coin, (at least for me) living in the country, with no public transportation, I need to drive, but also use a motorcycle, bicycle and even walk.  And for me, yes the money does count, as I am retired and live from month to month.

I'm with µT6, when I lived in Mexico City sometimes I just drove to a subway station and left the car there.

I walked and took the subway, then a bus and walked to the Dojo and did the same thing after training three days a week, Saturday used the car because we went to a restaurant after training.

Unless it was raining it was faster than driving

I worked in downtown Boston for years and the only problem with driving ones own car to work was it not being there when you get off work.  I rode the bus to the Redline and back to go home.  Most cars in town left the windows open and had signs on the dash that said sorry - radio is already stolen - car has no gas.

Sounds reasonable - except the nearest mass transit is about 35 miles away from the house.  And only came within about 15 miles of where I worked.  There are an awful lot of people in that boat in the US, which is why mass transit doesn't go over very well here.

in big cities you just hate cars, spend 4 hours per day sitting on a bus or a car is horrible
in rural areas or in small towns/cities the car is a must have, like water and food

I have lived in a lot of places and I agree the public transportation depends on where you are at.  Here in Tulsa, Oklahoma, I would not make my worst enemy ride the bus.  They are always late, sometimes don't even show up, and just doesn't go where most people need to be.  Recently they moved the Job Center from downtown to an extreme edge of town.  There is a bus that drops people about a mile from the new spot.  Sure it really doesn't do much to help people and most of the services can be accessed via the net, but those who don't have access to a computer are screwed over.  The only reason there is a Motor Vehicle office downtown is that half the town screamed a blue streak when they closed the only one in North Tulsa.  There is about nothing left downtown for someone who has to get things done.

The only bus system I have seen that was worse was in a small town where they had one bus that there was no schedule and no way to find out if it was running.  I spent a chilling hour and half before someone told me the bus wasn't running.
