(SOLVED) XFCE Settings Manager
« on: December 01, 2012, 09:04:51 PM »
Not sure if this is the place to post this.  Anyhow, I've been playing with other DEs.  I fired up XFCE and the settings Manager is completely blank.  Nothing inside the window.  Nothing to select to configure.

Check if "garcon" package is installed.

Guess reinstalling task-xfce4 and task-xfce4 plugins packages does also work.
It installs all needed packages for the xfce4 desktop.

That worked!  Thanks.:)  Got another question.  Where's the best place on the forum to post for XFCE?

EDIT - Wait!  Found it!:)   (DUH!)  Phoenix XFCE area.  Apologies.

Garcon nailed it.
I like the look of the menus much better too!
Thanks!

"task-xfce4" installed OK but "task-xfce4 plugins" has a weather plugin dependency issue and wouldn't install.
I don't like that weather thingy anyway so no biggie.

task-xfce-plugins:
Depends: xfce4-weather-plugin

Can you install xfce4-weather-plugin alone?

Yes, but can you install task-xfce-plugins without it?

Additionally, if you can check this simple procedure (install the xfce4-weather-plugin package) you may provide valuable information to a possible error situation and help packagers working on Xfce fix it.

Did just a test:
When I remove the xfce4-weather-plugin it removes also task-xfce-plugings
When reinstalling task-xfce-plugins it installs also the xfce4-weather-plugin.

No problem here.

Edit: what is your mirror enabled in synaptic?

http://ftp.heanet.ie/pub/pclinuxos/apt/

Couldn't install the weather plugin.

xfce4-weather-plugin:

Package xfce4-weather-plugin has no available version, but exists in the database.
This typically means that the package was mentioned in a dependency and never uploaded, has been obsoleted or is not available with the contents of sources.list

Also did a test using PASS and there is no problem.
Maybe your mirror isn't synced correctly. You should try a different mirror.
