By "reproductible",  Are you saying that you can "recreate" the condition at will?

If so, you didn't explain how to do it. Or,, I missed that part.

You're right, I did't explain that. The menu is gone after I change the GTK theme (using the LXDE Control Center).

And you type the command
Code: [Select]
update-menusin the run dialog?

No, in the Run dialog I only hit Cancel, and then the menu is back.

Another thing that I noticed, this time in PCMANFM: once the "menu bug" has occured, even after I restore the menu (the way I mentioned), when I click Applications in the side pane of PCMANFM nothing happens, I only get a busy mouse cursor.

I'd also like to take a minute to say thanks. I tried several distros using LXDE (Debian, Mandriva/ROSA, Lubuntu, Fedora and a few others) and in my opinion the pclos implementation of LXDE is the best (I'm talking about 2012.12). The layout is great, the graphics are great. It's great.

FYI- I described a very similar issue with the Menu in my Skype crashes PCLOS post.  My solution was Run and then cancel.  Afterwards, some things didn't seem to launch as if already running in a hidden user-mode.
Next time I will try that update-menus and see if that fixes the launch issue.  Although, I haven't noticed the problem come up since I ran the FSCK -fy (boot with a Livecd)

I have this too. Can´t seem to find any pattern to it either. This has got to be a bug in lxpanel right? Itś not really a problem for me, but I´ve been trying to wean various windows users off it and on to linux, so hoping to make it as seamless a transition as possible.

When I click  Configure Control Center GTK and Ikon Theme,
change widget theme or icon theme and click Apply and Close
part of menu disappears, I see only like:

Quote
_______
Run
_______
Logout
- I have this same as root, when I logout from root to user I have not seen problem,
but when I reset the computer, the problem came back.
 - I tried find an cause problem in /var/log/ and in terminal and I don't see nothing.
lxpanelctl restart , not help, I can only open " Run " and close window and
menu returns , but when I change again theme -menu disappears again

Is it possible to fix this?
Why command lxpanelctl restart ( refresh the menu bar ) can also spoil this.

update-menus not working for me, (reboot, Ctrl+Alt+Backspace not tested)
 more helping:
Quote
I just click the "run", then hit the "cancel" button on the pop-up & my menu returns.
Theme icon or widget when I click - change and there is no problem.
When I go out from GTK and Icon Theme ( no matter what you clicked )
menu is refreshed ( disappears and appears ).
Now menu is broken.
When I write in terminal
lxpanelctl restart
This also  refresh menu bar  and breaks down menu.

So maybe problem is refresh , Lxde can not properly refresh ?
Maybe the problem icons may mean something else?
Why menu returns ?
I do't see any bug  :(
I killall lxpanel (in terminal) and run lxpanel and any bug, nothing (in terminal).
(I repeated the procedure with "bug menu")

Is it possible to repair?

Edit:
I run fresh installed LXDE 32bit and problem not exist, problem exist now when I updated system and use addlocale.

Edit:
- I create new account for user , in this account this problem also exist.
So this is not settings user problem
- I changed the language to Default , problem not exit
      Language issue ?
- When I changed to my language problem exist.

FYI-This will happen every time I log out and log back in as the same user.
The "Run-Cancel" trick works every time also.(so not a Big deal..)
I tried changing various permissions at  (~/.cache/menus)  but still get the same results.

It sort of looks like a "refresh" problem, for instance today I tried this:

- I installed Libreoffice (using the Libreoffice Manager)
- I was notified that I will find Libreoffice menu entries under PC -» Office, so I searched for them, but nothing.
- I logged out, logged back in, checked again the Office submenu, but still nothing.
- I rebooted the pc, checked again and there it is, the Office submenu is now populated with the Libreoffice entries.

If you are impatient you can go into /home/user/.cache/menus

Delete what you find there, the two menu files.   They should
reappear shortly,  will save you a reboot anyway.

Any menu changes should be in the 2 files created automatically.

Hah, this works  :D , Thanks !
 - For me above create one file menu, when I use addlocale is create new with other name
 - I changed the name of the folder, I created a new folder "menus", reboot and
I checked this files "menus" (old and new) in Meld , Files are identical,
 - And when I use addlocale is created new menus file, and with new file the problem returns.
