In KDE, open Dolphin, select and right click  the folder you want to compress and choose

Compress > and choose either ZIP, RAR or ZIP/TAR (see image)

in lxde, what you say you have you can use p7zip or ark, i ignore if there is a service menu in it like the one mentioned before

be sure to have zip support files installed in synaptic, i think it is called unzip and zip

install file-roller and set it as default in
Archive integration...

Code: [Select]
pcmanfm --show-pref=5

Right click on folder > compress  ;)

My buddy isn't real computer literate (he runs phoenix) and sometimes gets emails via Yahoo web mail that contain attached zip files with pictures and really wouldn't understand unzipping to a folder to run a slideshow in a some type of .jpg viewer.
My question is, would there be an easy way to automate extracting & viewing zipped attachments?
Thanks

jdownloader can do that but i don't know how to connect it to a a mail server, other than copying the download link so jdownloader downloads and unzip or unrar the file

jdownloader is in repos

it is a multiplatform app using java, it does work in linux but doesn't have much integration other than firefox and check the clipboard
