Too bad she dose not have much time. I love the Filipino like Neal says never met one I did not like. If she likes shopping check out the SM (supper mall) I like Cebu myself. I third avoiding the balut. But do try the lumpia and pansit.
Yes, shopping in Manila no problem. Next to SM there is i.e. Robinsons and the champ of all Asia Mall.
But ... I rather go to Intramouros for a nice lunch and walk. Not far from Rizal park which can be a must see for many. A little read about Jose Rizal, the national hero here, is a good opener to understand more about one and other. A boat ride over Manila bay is also nice for new comers. Tell daughter love NOT to change money offered by street changers offering high rates. . Always look for a real licensed and guarded money changer.
In my case the domestic airport is my favorite place, from there I can fly away far from Manila to many more attractive locations (to me that is) in the Philippines.
That said one doesn´t travel to far by vehicle to escape Manila. Tagatay i.e. isn´t that far (Taal Volcano) As is Calamba City where the house of Jose Rizal can be visited, still in splendid condition and as was.
Nagh, as for things to see in RP, it takes a lifetime to see just half of it! A adventure with no end. A short visit will always be like that, a (too) short visit.
