Same scam, different appoach
« on: November 29, 2012, 11:28:33 AM »
I just got two of these emails via Thunderbird.

It says that I've received a 21 page fax via Jconnect and that I need to download their software in order to open the file.

Sheesh!

A).  I don't know anyone who needs to fax me 21 pages.  If I did, I would wave certainly told them to email me PDFs.
B.)  If they discussed this with me first, clearly, I would have told them I run Linux and downloading third party Windows software was out of the question.

It's just another con to try and deposit a virus on a person's PC.

Just glad I don't run Windows.

Toonfully,

Received the same thing a while back, so I emailed the company asking for more details.  Never heard back, so I guess it was probably a scam.  Forwarded the e-mail to FBI and CIA and called it good.  I doubt either organization will do anything, but hey you never know when they might get bored spying on non-criminals and do a little real work.
