unable to mount usb device
« on: November 28, 2012, 07:33:29 AM »
All sorts of weird issues, apparently since updating to kde 4.9 last week.  I say apparently, as the last time I downloaded pictures from the Canon camera was in mid September.  Yes, it works on windows 7 so the camera looks lkikes its fine.

So I try downloading pictures off my Droid phone - works fine.

I try the Canon camera.  Its recognized as a "usb device".  The 'click to mount device'  icon doesn't work.  Clicking on either of the Two actions,

1)   Download photos with gwenview

2)   Open with file manager

doesn't do anything.

Sigh...any ideas ?

Just tried looking at my camera output.  I have KDE 4.9.2. Camera is Panasonic Lumix DMC-F27. I had no problem seeing the camera in Dolphin or in Gwenview.
FWIW, if "hald" is the haldaemon, it's loaded.  Here's an excerpt from ps -A:
2483 ?        00:00:08 dbus-daemon
 2513 ?        00:00:08 hald
 2515 ?        00:00:00 console-kit-dae
 2613 ?        00:00:00 polkitd
 2647 ?        00:00:00 hald-runner
 2667 ?        00:00:00 uuidd
 2765 ?        00:00:09 ifplugd
 2805 ?        00:00:01 hald-addon-inpu
 2845 ?        00:00:52 hald-addon-stor
 2851 ?        00:00:52 hald-addon-stor
 2853 ?        00:00:00 hald-addon-acpi
 2854 ?        00:00:06 hald-addon-stor

So, your problem does not appear to be KDE 4.9.

and now Gwenview and the file manager option is working although the 'mount' icon still isn't.

This is the second   'event'  that has happened in the last Two days   (see the  'synaptic fails to launch'  thread).

Weird, quirky stuff going on.
