Anyone Here Know if VDownloader is ok to use with Linux?
« on: November 25, 2012, 01:27:49 PM »
I didn't have any luck downloading videos with the firefox extension I used to use and I found a simple way to do it--just insert the word "kiss" (without the quotation marks) in front of youtube in the url. For example:

http://www.youtube.com  /watch?v=cmVXYOJzAJM (I had to insert a couple of spaces so it wouldn't hotlink)

is the url for a Dan Fogelberg song called Same Old Lang Syne . If I insert the word kiss in front of the youtube in the url, like so:

http://www.kissyoutube.com/watch?v=cmVXYOJzAJM

it will take you to a page where you can download the video. Pretty nifty I think. But on that page they advertise VDownloader and I wondered if anyone here had any experience with it. I know that you can do a bash script to do the same thing (if you understood them well enough that is, which I don't). Right now this is the most simple method I have found but I am always looking for the best/easiest way to do stuff like that. Thanks.

never used that tool before

i use jdownloader alot

if i copy the address if the video you provided jdownloader offers me all this options to download

i use this solution because i don't want to depend on firefox or his extensions anymore, jdownloader just analyzes the clipbard and offers options

it is not perfect but it does the job

I downloaded that from the repository and now can't find it--where is it supposed to go? I am pretty sure I checked everything in the start menu or whatever it's called, even things that were not logical, but I didn't find it.

Ah, it is indeed there. I guess I overlooked it. Thanks again.
