Blackberry 10, and what....
« on: November 23, 2012, 08:13:57 PM »
I have not hidden the fact that I like & have a BB torch 9810 smartphone.

So many people think "they" are about to end.  Hum-bug...!

Here is a nice video about the new BlackBerry 10...

today i saw a preview of one of the prototypes in the local news

also the tv host made a unclear nad uninformed comment about their hopes on the device, people doesn't really know what is happening to the company

i still like what i see on the new phones and the new os

if they get things together they could revive easily in 6 months

another video of the prototypes phones running the os

in some of the previous reviews i have read in one was mentioned that the os feels slow but i honestly don't see that on any video i have found

what i have seen is that, you are out of luck sammy, they are about to abandon almost every form of physical keyboard

btw, i hate the term "flow"

it doesn't flow for me :P

Hype about any product is much like politics.

You never know what you got.... until it is actually arrived.

I knew it was you Sammy that started this thread before I even saw your name. Yes you have been clear about loving the Blackberry. Nothing wrong with that. The new phone looks very cool. It will be interesting to see the response to the new phone.

I cannot quite understand the problems RIM are having,in my neck of the woods it is a must have.
My daughter and friends and relatives all use Blackberries.

I agree.  When the stock market and media jumps on-board... it seems that's the way it's going.

Physical keyboards always trounce touchscreens for extended typing messages and may be in some games.
But for almost all other activities, it is the full touchscreens that give a better experience.
I went and bought this Nokia E6-00 knowing full well that the OS is End Of Lifed just for its portrait qwerty keyboard.
I believe the best setup is something like that os Nokia E7, where one gets a full touchscreen and also a slide out full keyboard.
Packaging well will cure headaches of many :) But learning to package will cause headaches in many :(

yes, there was a time when bb was king but mostly it was for the pin

you know, that unique technology that allowed users to chat

now that whatsapp, viber, facebook mobile band many other tools came the pin and the bbmessenger began to sink

a couple years ago they had problems with thier servers that interconnect everyone so their service was unavailable worldwide for a'most a week, after that it happened many other times

blackberry has been seen as a tool for workers so not much entertainment focused on the device

iphone and android got that right

i have mentioned before the quality of the bb devices, some models were good but others were just crap

seeing thir prototypes showed, it seems that they changed focus and added useful elements, also improved others already present in bb9860 and i must say that while that phone was really bad, it was  really pretty and fun to use(before it stopped working)

I think, from what I've read, the Service Blackouts hurt BB more than anything else..... :-\

yes, if you loose the connection to all the special features of blackberry platform it suddenly converts into a simple phone with poor battery life and weird signal quality

that is where simple online services based on more standard servers suceeded

I remember that time.  Yet it seemed to be regional.  Because I didn't have any problems at the time.

Unlike the Avro Canada CF-105 Arrow fighter-jet, I hope Blackberry survives....

the big one? yes, it seemed to affect some big cities, also some parts of the world

it made me think that they had problems not with the servers, maybe with routers and connection with parts of the network

the way they do things requires a constant connection to their network, small amounts of information but is information all the time so it is not much information but is coming form everywhere

they will survive if what on those videos is real and stable, it could make them recover a good portion of smartphone market

most people asked a change of direction from them, a different approach and bb10 seems to be that

looks like a good mix of android and iphone elements

now i'm worried, apple will sue them  ;D
