Ya know, I've never given that any thought until I read it here...and yes, I've read references to where he lives, what he speaks fluently, and it still didn't cross my mind.  He (she?  ;) -- just being facetious!) is just another person, it seems.

We are ALL just other people on this forum.

There is a 5th dimension, beyond that which is known to man.It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity, between science& superstition,& it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call PCLINUXOS!

No offending, I was agreeing with you that we are all one group here. None of that other stuff even enters my mind. You made an excellent point.

IMHO, one should use the review option/look over every post he/she makes, while trying to consider the feelings and believes of others here on our forum.  Politically correct &  take it with a grain of salt come to mind.  I think we all touch (at least in our minds) on some almost grey areas.  The key is knowing not to be offensive or hurting the feelings of others or saying something that could be taken the wrong way.
Happy holidays...

I really don't see what others' beliefs have to do with what I might write.

Should we then ban the use of all references to deities because some believe there are none?
Ban expressions like .....  OMG! and words such as lord, god, devil, angel etc etc ......   add them to the list along with the Bunty name  :D

I was hoping that part would be covered by " take it with a grain of salt come to mind."

That is exactly what happened the other day. My whole thread was deleted , with everyone's wonderful Thanksgiving sentiments for mentioning only one of the words mentioned above.
Does that mean this thread will now be deleted?

Personally, I believe that there are other forums for such discussion. Peace be with you.

I have also come to recognize that it is more about behavior than beliefs.

My presence here is about learning how to use PCLinuxOS and sharing a civil laugh among friends.

I try very hard not to offend forum members; I have too much respect for each and every one of you.

I avoid commenting on questionable posts; I leave that to the moderators.

I equally would expect to be reprimanded by a moderator if I were to cross the line.  :-[

To joechimp and others, if you have any interest in audio and video equipment then feel free to join the Audio Annex forum.  A whole bunch of us misfits ;D there who are allowed to talk politics, religion, say the f-bomb and post racy photos.  The forum administrator doesn't care one bit.  He is a cool guy who will have fun razzing people and getting razzed himself.
You may get flamed if you sing the praises of Bose products but for the rest it is the most laid back forum of loonies ever. ;D
Check it out.  Just beware that I am also a member there. :o
Non-members do not see any of the funny stuff though.

I don't have all the rules for all the forums memorized,
but I've found that if I say please and thank you even if
I goof once in awhile all things go well.

PCL doesn't have a religion or politics forum just a sandbox
for civil and social and some technical blarney.   Those
flame throwers can make anything lousy.

All religions believe in Jesus,  so there's really nothing to
bring up in a PCL forum.   I know people that accepted
Holy Orders and people that refused them.   Just the way
it is.   Not much to discuss.    The forum rules would
prohibit it.

But I do like those Merry Christmas wallpapers from last
year.    Not much to discuss, so I won't, we won't.

A happy forum is without religion and politics I agree.

Have a good one.

I think the rules are clear, from time to time a mod goes a little too far to enforce them but a rule is you can not discuss with a mod; you can however write to another mod and have the decision reviewed.

Some of the regulars here are in my G+ circles and there we share opinions and sometimes disagree until somebody stop answering... no big deal.

If you want give me your G+ name and I will share my PCLOS circle with you .
I shall pass this way but once;
any good therefore that I can do,
or any kindness that I can show
let me not defer nor neglect it,
for I shall not pass this way again.

I do my best to follow the general forum rules about not bringing up politics or religion, but if someone posts something which is on the borderline of these issues, and makes definitive statements which I disagree with, I sometimes feel compelled to not let their assertion stand without comment.  The recent climate change thread was a case where this occurred, and I felt that it would be unethical of me to let some of the other posts go by with no argument.

These forums should be about PCLOS, Linux, computers, and technical matters, as far as I'm concerned.  Off-topic, lighthearted content in the sandbox is great, as long as the areas of contention (politics, religion, and the like) are avoided.

As far as I'm concerned, locking or purging troublesome threads is completely reasonable.

Anyone who read my thread knows that I broke no rules that haven't been broken a bunch of times already in this thread. DO you see this thread going anywhere. I think not.

The context in which I dared to refer to a deity was in a Thanksgiving thread remembering those I lost in the past year and to all my friends here in the forum and to Bill Reynolds to get well soon and for what he created here. It was NOT an egregious disrespect for the rules.

I feel like I am made out to be a constant rule breaker here. I respect this forum. If I had unintentionally done something wrong then I should have been notified of that. Not arbitrarily have my thread deleted.

Am I PI**ED off . You bet I am.
