Microsoft giving away 8???
« on: November 22, 2012, 05:29:23 PM »

Through a glitch in their system (and their thinking) many people ended up with a full version of 8 without paying a dime.  Could Microsoft figure out that if you can't sell it, give it away and make them beg for programming?

Would you take it even if you could get it for free?

Have a great evening!  :)

Yes I would except it if only to have a copy to show someone what to avoid in an operating system.  Maybe burn a copy and put in a time capsule to warn future generations away from the evils of corporate systems.

All depends what you call an operating system.
I have a certain definition for an OS.
The kids next door burst out laughing and told me I got it all wrong.
An OS is something invented not so long ago to load games on.

( now, that did feel s...t , being wrong since 1977 )

 ;D ;D ;D

OK, back to ..8..
I had the free Beta here and got rid of it after half a day.
Not impressed.
One student of mine left his laptop with ..8..(legal ) on it here for a few hours.
Still not impressed

In spite of MS claims, I get the feeling that windoze 8 may not be doing as well as they hoped.
Is it possible, this is another ploy to get it out there?
Even if they were to give away the os, they would still make way more $$ than it's worth, for apps.
No use for it here...
Older then dirt, but still above it...

One of Microsoft's big product placements is the television series Hawaii Five-O; and there are others (NCIS: LA).
You have to admire the use of the large touch screens and tables.

Forget about sasquatch and extraterrestrials, it's those gul darn leprechauns we should be concerned about!

You would think they would try to do more placements on show like "Big Bang Theory" or even some of the PBS shows.  Both hit more toward the intellectual audiences.

I have met two guys in the last two months that have a "windows cellphone".  Both can't wait for their contract to run out, so they can change.

I'm pretty sure I could get a free "upgrade" to Windows 8 since my netbook is less than a year old, and came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit installed.

I have no desire to.

From what I have seen, Microsoft looked at the iPad, looked at Gnome 3, and decided to try to copy those interfaces.

I have a strong aversion to new Apple products, abandoned Gnome because of Gnome 3, and want my computer to run a computer interface, not one built for a phone.
