Here I am, a long time AMD fan and it was time for a new laptop. So I look for AMD and found it. Things has changed!

I find out soon PCLinuxOS (Linux) has no answer to this.....  Ough!
What happens is it installs fine but has no proper driver for the Audio and video.
Most annoying!  Sideways scrolling needed and no volume control.
Went to try some kernels(including 3.4.11 from testing) but no joy...
Wonder if anyone here could help for I am stocked with this thing.

All works, like wifi etc. It is just these two items that spoils the fun (big time!)

It tries to use a intel driver for sound and has no clue about video.

It runs now on vesa but with a terrible resolution.

Anyone knows about a solution? Is it a (too old) kernel problem, a driver problem?

sling-shot:
Your card seems quite new. Latest AMD drivers are not yet in stable section of our repository. Please wait some more time or you could try the one in "testing" if you feel adventourous.

Looks like it is an APU. More information here:

EDIT : Please substitute *buntu (u in the place of *) to correct the link above.

CaptainSarcastic:
Can you post the model and specs of your laptop?

My netbook is running an AMD C-60 processor with Radeon HD 6250 graphics, and it is doing fine.  I had to tweak some settings to get the sound, and I can look up what I did, but it would be helpful to know exactly what hardware you are working on.

The ATI Radeon driver may work on that video system. Not all of the features may be supported but should work better than a generic VGA driver. My info says it works on 98xx. As for the audio system, a driver doesn't seem to be available yet. There is an HDMI project working on it. Not really fair to blame ATI, these are fairly new systems and Linux drivers have to be written for them.
Always best to check Linux hardware compatibility before purchase.
Good luck with the Radeon driver and be patient on the Wrestler driver.

This is a screenshot with my hardware showing.  I have full 3D acceleration and sound on my laptop, working fine.
