Good grief!

External DVD drives typically require 2x USB 2.0 connections

Thankfully I never came across one of those .....  and I have two external DVD drives .....  both require one USB 2 port .......  but I suppose the writer is referring to an external drive that is powered by USB.

my external dvd drive also has two connectors but i have found that it works with only one connected on most cases

but on other laptops and desktops the usb port doesn't provide or enough voltage or or enough amps to make it work, not all the machines uses the usb port the same

logic says that newer dvd drives should work well on that port but older shouldn't

the only port on those devices probably doesn't deliver enough for most drives
