First we need some information about the device to check what might get it working.

To get this information do the following ....

if the device is plugged in, remove it and wait about 20 seconds, then plug it in again .....  then immediately do the following ...

open a terminal and copy & paste the following command into the terminal, and press Enter. When completed (the prompt returns), copy and paste the result in your next post.

dmesg | tail

You should get a result similar to (although not the same as) this ...

Code: [Select]
[user@XPS ~]$ dmesg | tail
DVB: registering new adapter (Afatech AF9015 DVB-T USB2.0 stick)
af9013: firmware version:4.95.0.0

I found the following ...

http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Gadmei_USB_TVBox_UTV380

Quote
A Small USB based analogue capture device using EM2860 and Xceive xc2028 chip Tuner.

It is currently not supported under Linux.

....  but that might be a bit outdated (not sure) ...

Maybe someone else would have a better idea but I don't think this will work natively in Linux.

You could try running XP in VirtualBox and running the device in XP. If you set it up in seamless mode it will appear just like any other application.
Only problem with that is your hardware would need to be capable of running XP in VirtualBox, and the video memory you can allocate might not be sufficient for good video.

My preferred option would be to buy a cheap USB dongle (~$20) that IS supported under Linux.
You would need to do your homework to select the correct device for your location as well as ensuring it is supported under Linux.

Sorry .....  but I have been unable to find any indication that your device is supported .....  and the indication is that no one has it working properly, even with a lot of work.

Run XP in VBox, plug in the device, on the top menu go to Devices - USB Devices  and there tick the box for you device .....  XP should shortly after 'see' the device and offer to install the software for it.

Put in the CD that came with the device and do the usual Windows installing of drivers and software.

It will be necessary to enable the device in the menu after each reboot of XP .......  look on it as similar to plugging the device in to an XP PC.

What you see in VirtualBox is not your real graphics card but your virtual one (with a name like VirtualBox Graphics Adapter). It is a virtual system so everything inside it is virtual. Have you installed the extension pack?

Check the Display set up in VBox ......  max memory allocated and  tick to allow video acceleration - should improve things somewhat

I think that is the best you will get.

VBox uses a 'virtual' graphics card so the drivers for the hardware graphics card are not used, IIRC.

Go to the download section of the official website:

https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads

Click on: VirtualBox 4.2.4 Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack -> All platforms and select to open the file with VirtualBox. This will install the extension pack.

base memory i max it.

I wouldn't ......  you must leave sufficient memory available for PCLOS.
There is usually a 'green' indicator showing what the safe max would be .....  I would not exceed that.

video mamory - yes max it ...  I think it was 128MB last time I looked.

If you have the possibility of allowing more than one CPU core for XP then you should try that ......  decoding the broadcast signal is intensive, so XP needs all the help you can give it.  ;)
