In System Settings, turn off the "Magic Lantern" (or similar, don't have English locale).

It should then be gone. I like it btw. ;D

Configure your desktop -> Desktop effects -> all effects -> magic lantern (or magic lamp)
All that is is good. PCLinuxOS is.

or did you mean that the effect doesn't work? In this case play with the settings in the last tab.

In the Desktop effects window, under Advanced what are you using as a Composting Type? Mine is OpenGL, QT graphics System Native, Scale Method Smooth. Use OpenGL 2 Shaders is check marked. Are you using the Nvidia driver or Nouveau Driver? I use the Nvidia driver. Mine seems to hesitate when I enable the Use Vsync.

Can't be too sure but from watching the video from the original post, I would guess that the video buffer is not coping with the core processing speed hence the lockups. Also check the VertRefresh and make sure it is the correct setting. If it is already set to Auto then you have a bigger problem.

Another theory would be that X was assigned another task at the same time you were minimizing your window and the effect was caught thus the freeze.

sorry guys for late , I have a lot of work anyway, under Advanced Mine is also OpenGL, QT graphics System raster,Scale Method Smooth, OpenGL 2 Shaders + Vsync these my settings
i'm using Nvidia driver - pclinuxos does not detect my nvidia card so at live or after install it now this is what it shows in PCC - Configure Video

this is what i choose

but after restat i see this the Propriety driver for your graphic card can not be found, the system is now using the free software driver (nvidia) !!
also in PCC message beside word "MODULE"

I'm confusing now which driver is loaded and in use . I've nvidia 440 GT - 2GB DDR3 BTW is this video card good to run pclinuxos KDE

If you haven't yet tried it, try

Config Your Desktop > Workspace Appearance and Behavior > Desktop Effects - Advanced Tab > Composting Type

try changing the Composting Type to XRender - if that is accepted then try OpenGL

and/or try switching the QT Graphic System

Occasionally it needs the desktop to be restarted after some System Settings have been applied/removed

The graphic card you have selected may not be correct. Try selecting GeForce 400 or later.

Also search Synaptic for nvidia-current and see if it is installed.
