My research has shown this to be true. (By asking.)

They typically try to stand behind the product but eventually give in and admit, they don't like it.

I work with some real computer geeks, including one whose brother owns a computer repair business.  All of my friends said the same thing, 8 ain't worth the time or trouble.  Several of us jumped on the preview copies and tried it out, and we all gave it a failing grade.  My mother bought a laptop that included an 8 upgrade, and she took the upgrade.  She hates everything about it and wishes she hadn't.
