Desktop changed? [solved]
« on: November 16, 2012, 12:27:20 AM »
I didn't change any settings, or do any updates last night. When I booted my machine this evening, the wallpaper is gone & there are no icons showing on the desktop. While this has happened before, a reboot did not fix it this time.

Any ideas about why this happens & how to fix it?

Which DE are you using? KDE?
All that is is good. PCLinuxOS is.

Did you change any settings, move or delete folders before shutting down?

What date is your /home/.kde4 folder?

Not sure what happened, have only heard about such changes after updates so far.

I wonder if your desktop has been changed from Folder View to Desktop view ......

right click on the desktop and near the bottom of the list check whether you have Folder or Desktop.

If Desktop, click on it and change to Folder View in the settings provided.

Well that seems to have fixed it, although my icons were not where I keep them. I wonder how that got switched, I keep widgets locked?

Thanks for the help.
