US lawyer sues Microsoft
« on: November 15, 2012, 12:43:59 PM »
A California lawyer is suing Microsoft, claiming the Surface tablet he bought doesn't have all the storage space the company advertised.

Andrew Sokolowski says he bought a Surface with 32 gigabytes of storage last week. But he quickly ran out of space after loading it with music and Microsoft Word documents.

in the first place it doesn't have 32 gbs of storage, it comes with 29.8 gbs of space because they advertise as in 1GB being 1000 Megabytes but we know that 1024 megabytes is 1GB

also the Rt eats 13 gbs more or less

he has a case

in cellphones the internal storage is advertised that same way but you only loose 1 to 3 gbs, not 13 with the exception of some phones that comes with movies or lots of music like nokia phones that came with discs of lady gaga or batman 2 stored in the internal memory

Microsoft says on its website that the 32GB Surface has 16GB of free space while the 64GB version has 45GB free.

nobody visited the site to see their false advertisement explanation, lots of writers wrote articles explaining how badly that os is done when compared to any other mobile os it is supposed to compete with and how big and dumb is

if you are offered with a 32 gb device you expect to see 32 gbs, not 16, remember the post about a flash drive we had recently?  a member asking for help on how to make his 16 gb drive work properly because it was showing only 14 gbs

nobody understand technology

that is why we have pclinux forum, to find help, information and explanations

it is a false advertisement case

But please, please, please, dear T6,

We all know that you don't have a shift key on your keyboard. Nevertheless, don't write gb when you mean either GB or GiB. "b" stands for bits, "B" stands for bytes, that is eight "b". I know you know.

you and i know that, GB, gb and now GIB are not the same

nobody else understands that

once i explained the difference of those terms to my teacher, she basically panicked

after the 4th explanation(yes she is pretty and i was patient because she is gentle) she got the whole idea, that and wikipedia

nobody knows, that is the truth, if i mention here GiBs or MiBs, i will point to wikipedia and people won't get that it is a attempt to explain all that confusion made for just 24 bytes
