Hello   THIS IS A SECOND INTERNALSYSTEM DRIVE  not a removable external or a usb drive

Ah, you can set up Device Notifier to show and automount internal drives too. But if your /dev/sdb1 isn't a removable drive and if you want it to be mounted at boot you really should mount it via an entry in /etc/fstab. Muungwana tried to tell you how to create that entry in PCC.

If you followed his advice and it didn't work, or if you want more control over how sdb1 is mounted, you must first tell us where you want to mount it. Under your home directory? under /mnt?

....  or he could use Device Notifier as I do (posted above) with no fstab entries  ;)

i setup device too see all devices ill try that.

i'd like to thank the posters for this thread and its suggestions.  i just got a Kingston SSD 120Gb and switched my old hd to a secondary position - it doesn't seem to have any way of selecting "slave" on it, it's a 500 Gb Seagate.

i also saw this thread and installed Device Notifier and set it to "Automount the devices".  Rebooted and Bingo!  there was my old drive under /mount.

A note on this file transfer from old drives to new, ssd ones - It Takes A Long Time - to copy files from the old one to the new one.

Have a great morning!  :)

Mine seemed to detect which one was the master and it has booted just fine so far.  i've finally got most of my files on the new drive and have disconnected the old one.

Thanks for replying! and have a wonderful evening!  :)
