Have you tried different output devices in the Audio preferences of VLC? ........  PulseAudio if used or maybe Alsa?

Hey Just 17

Yes I have tried different output settings. My first post was not quite correct. There is no video also. The only thing that indicate vlc running is the running slider. Trouble is that it has worked before. So I am searching for the volatile or fragile menu where (I) did something wrong  ;)

The above picture is the first section of my hardware report.

Furthermore other video players kplayer etc. also not working.

So lets re-cap ........  you have no video or audio players functioning at all?

Have you tried different audio/video files and file types?

right..kmplayer and smplayer show a blue screen and no sound but with the progress indicator showing something is happening. - Filmafspiller(danish) does not work at all and jumps out when started. - The above are *.avi files  ???

Hi

Had a real hard time figuring out what had gone wrong. I did not find out. - So I chose to reinstall and now vlc working fine again.
But still after this reinstall the widget analog clock is distorted and misplaced when I make a reboot  ???
Besides this little misbehaving which is a minor issue I am amazed that this distro is working so good with only 512 Mb
memory.

Hi

I changed resolution to 1024 x 768. And here is what the log showed:

10:37:55 XFdrake[28374]: ### Program is starting ###
10:38:05 XFdrake[28374]: running: /bin/rpm -q --qf %{name}  task-x11
10:38:09 XFdrake[28374]: launched command: mount /proc 2>/dev/null
10:38:09 XFdrake[28374]: the graphics card does not like X in framebuffer
10:39:18 XFdrake[28374]: moved file /etc/X11/xorg.conf to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.old
10:39:18 XFdrake[28374]: created file /etc/X11/xorg.conf
10:39:22 XFdrake[28374]: ### Program is exiting ###

Maybe troubles are related to this one:

the graphics card does not like X in framebuffer  ???

Intel Corporation 82845G/GL[Brookdale-G]/GE Chipset Integrated Graphics Device (rev 01)

After rebooting the screen resolution is what I wanted.

Thanks much for help  :) ;)
