For example, lets say Terry is right about the compression. WHY will --lzma not work with kernels newer than 2.6.37???
WHY WHY WHY? It's freakin' lzmw compression for crying out loud!! It should work!

A simple search of the forum would reveal the answer http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,89314.msg747855.html#msg747855

Terry.

I have a love/hate relationship with the PCLOS forum search feature, but that's besides the point.

"mylivecd and squashfs-tools have been updated to work with kernels 2.7.37, 2.6.38 and higher utilizing xz compression"

Interesting. Then why is it still compressing my 3.2.18 kernel system using lzmw?

Anyway to persuade mylivecd to recognize my kernel version and use the appropriate compression method?

Thanks...

Because you are not running "mylivecd" directly.  You are calling it via a script called remasterme (which is not part of the mylivecd package or the recommended way of remastering) which adds the --lzma option regardless of the kernel version.

Now were getting somewhere. Thanks Terry! Now all they need to do is remove the defective remasterme script, so people don't use that by mistake and have to spend weeks in the forums ;)

Thanks everyone for the help!

It is not in the repo otherwise I would have fixed it  ;D
But obviously it is present on the system used to create the ISOs.

It was installed with the original PCLinuxOS 2011.x.iso I downloaded from here. So it must be a relic. I've been "rolling upgrading" ever since.
Any way to uninstall remasterme with an update of mylivecd, in the future (or link it to mylivecd)? Not for my sake since I now know about it now, but maybe someone else is having the same issue.
