xperia to sell 50 million phones next year

"By partnering with Taiwan-based device manufacturers, Sony Mobile is expected to ship 50 million Xperia smartphones in 2013.

"[Foxconn] is currently the largest ODM for Sony Mobile, followed by Arima and Compal," according to industry source speaking with Taiwanese site DigiTimes. "The three ODMs may receive up to 20 million smartphone [of the 50 million] orders from Sony Mobile in 2013."

To add credence to the report, the statements back up previous rumors that suggested Sony is expecting 50 percent year on year growth for its Xperia smartphone lineup."

Where they based that on?    Are they in the Windows boot?

android will keep growing until a better os comes up, maybe firefox os or tizen, maybe another

what i find interesting is that they know/expect how much they are going to sell

when compared to samsung that will sell at least 120 million android phones(combined with galaxy line and the smaller simpler models like galaxy young or the chatphone with android) i think is hard to admit but realistic to say how much you are going to do

sony is basically selling only xperia phones, no more cheap phones like the old walkman line sold in 2010, they are basically selling android only

I've had an Xperia P for about 4 months now, and I'm totally excited about this model. With this excellent build quality and nice features, I can see why Sony is expecting lots more sales. I just hope they stay on their current path.

sony looses but climbs to the third place in smartphone market
