while some fight for survive
« on: November 12, 2012, 03:49:22 PM »
"Despite the PC market due to experience its first decline in over a decade due to the emergence of smartphones and tablets, Lenovo appears to be one of the few PC vendors succeeding within a weak market.

For the firm's fiscal second quarter that ended on September 30, it reported record sales of $8.7 billion, representing an increase of 11 percent from the same period in 2011.

Elsewhere, PC shipments rose by 10.3 percent, which is a commendable gain when considering that shipments for the overall PC industry decreased by more than 8 percent.

Lenovo now boasts a 15.7 percent share of the global PC market, which is its highest market share since its inception. Hewlett-Packard remains as the market leader with a market share of 19.5 percent during the last quarter."

I'd like to think of it in this idea ... while people still have homes to live in, the PC industry will continue to have its share in the market. The emergence and craze in portable and mobile computing shouldn't be a deterrent to PC manufacturers but instead they should continue to find ways to attract the home users.

Let's face it ... working on a desktop or even a laptop is not the same as when you're doodling on your tablet.

yes, microsoft with their tablet/laptop/thing aimed at that but it is still a tablet

i can do alot in a smartphone but i only feel comfortable on a desktop or a netbook

what home is aiming now is nettops, aio, cheap laptops and netbooks, but something not expensive that doesn't look like is going to break in 5 minutes of use

I am a desktop builder/hobbyist who spends a good deal of my time pining over the hardware and do-dahs at Newegg.

Not to be overly dramatic, but I won't stop desktop computing until they pry the Logitech mouse from my cold dead hand.

Too much?  ;D
