The sun is shining, and O-P is back. The universe is unfolding as it should.

Great to have you back, O-P!  :) I'm glad you're better; just keep taking good care of yourself.

I hope you can see how many folks were concerned about you.

you got me thinking op, about the chair that gave you problems

too tall or too short, too small?

are you one of those guys that use a chair form the dining room to work on the pc?

The chair was a regular office arm chair on casters. The problem was the front rail was too high and the padding, set between the rails, rather than on top of the rails, when squashed down by my weight, allowed the front frame rail to press into the backs of my legs enough to block proper circulation. This wasn't a problem for quite some time, but became a problem when I gained the extra weight. Fat ass = more padding compression = whole new scary problem. :P

if it is a pneumatic system, the gas cylinder can be replaced, most chairs end with that piece damaged after 3 years

but maybe for some time you should avoid that chair and just sit on something different?  what are you doing while you recover?

OK, I hate commenting on a thread that has gone this far.... but

Just for you OP.

I had two office chairs in my room.  One for me, the other whoever would pop by.  I bought them at Action Office Interiors, at 268.00 a chair.  The one broke, I fell to the floor.  What... I only bought them 3 three's ago.

So I bought just a week ago a office chair at Costco for 179.95... real leather, not bonded leather like the previous.  Lumbar support, and girls at my side... ok that last comment my not be true..........  It feels great though.

The chair I'm now using doesn't have a gas cylinder but is height adjustable through a screw in the lower platform. The main body of the chair is a molded contour butt bucket, with a rolled front over which the cushioning also rolls. The main part of the chair can also recline, but as a complete unarticulated unit, with a separate foot/leg rest that is now under the desk, so I can raise my feet or lean back as separate or combined actions.

I had one of those pneumatic height controlled chars in the past. It was quite comfortable and shaped much like the present chair. The cylinder didn't fail, but the welded plate that holds the cylinder did. My mother was sitting on the chair at the time it failed, and the cylinder came right up through the chair bottom.

Imagine, if you will, the expression on her face, and the whoop that accompanied it, when suddenly poked from below by that which was neither a pistol in a pocket, nor someone just happy to see her. She was not amused,. I was near hysterical with laughter.  ;D ;D ;D

It seems to be. It's comfortable, and no new swelling for the past three days, which is rather positive. ;D
