I just know you are all dying to ask, so the short version is this;
Back at the end of October, my ankles and feet swelled up alarmingly, then the swelling went up the legs. I felt it prudent to get it checked out. The good news is that it isn't heart failure or diabetes, but rather a bad computer chair that was cutting the leg circulation, and an overabundance of weight. The immediate treatment was being flat on my back in bed with my feet elevated until the swelling subsided, and no computer activity. I was also told to lose about twenty to twenty-five pounds. My normal weight is between 185 and 190 pounds, and the long hours at the computer without an appropriate reduction in calorie input jumped that to 220. Bad, bad, Polack.
When the swelling was mostly gone and I went to get back online, I found that my monitor had died. Not being of the overly monied persuasion, I simply had to wait for the SS check, and a proper sale's price reduction. (Black Friday was good to me) I now have a very nice Asus 23" flat screen monitor in place of the old dead 17" CRT. I also have a much better designed computer chair, so hopefully this will not be a repeating event.
I'm monitoring my ankles, and at the slightest sign of swelling or tingling, I'm up and out of here, taking a walk around the block to get the circulation going again. The absolute worst part of this is having to cut back on the dining portions. One loves to cook because one loves to eat. I haven't changed the cooking habits, but I'm now dividing the portions into two or three parts; one for today and the others for reheating the next or subsequent days.

Basically I just got a wake up call letting me know that I am human and aging, subject to the same frailties as others of the human persuasion. As wake up calls go, it was much more pleasant than a stroke, or a heart attack. I was also reminded that I won't be of much use helping others if I don't take care of myself first. I'm working on it.
