He made astronomy interesting and accessible to all.

He will be missed greatly.

R.I.P.
There is a 5th dimension, beyond that which is known to man.It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity, between science& superstition,& it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call PCLINUXOS!

Great character. While at school I used to occasionally play chess with him at the town chess club.  A friend was making an 8 in reflector telescope, grinding the mirror by hand and was given much help and support by him, including testing the mirror at the Royal Observatory.  We were also invited to his house to look through his 12 in reflector.

Yes, he will be sadly missed.

When I was just 9 years old at the end of 1969, I played the part of Patrick Moore in a school play. It was a reenactment of the Apollo 11 lunar landing.
He was at least partly responsible for my lifelong love of science and astronomy. I have tears running down my cheeks as I write this.
 Goodbye Patrick.
