(SOLVED) Printer configuration in MiniMe
« on: November 09, 2012, 12:39:31 PM »
Now i've installed the KDE full version, but I like more the MiniMe version because, IMO, is better install strictly what I need instead uninstall what not need.
The problem is that Printer Configuration don't work by default in this version.
How can I make it to work?
I prefere reinstall the system instead uninstall unneeded software.
I understand MiniMe is the basic system suitable to a personalizet configuration (and I like it), though... IMO it should be activated by default since it is a basic task. Maybe I'm wrong...

OTOH, I hsve s printer Canon PIXMA MP 190 but... no drivers for it, only for MP 180 and followed by MP 220. Can install the printer with MP 180 driver but it don't work very well.
I found drivers in Canon Asia, downloaded them but no idea how to install.
Help me, please! :)

OK, it works.
But there were added a lot of tasks of different classes of priters I no need since my need is only for Canon.. Disabeling them in was disabled the task-printing also. So, I have to remain with all these.

No you can remove them and let it remove task-printing ....  just make sure you leave the packages you need.

Ok, just17. Thank you.
But what happens is clicking Menu->More Aplications->Printing it appears a list with Epson, Hp and 5 times Lexmark. The fact is I have a Canon Multifunction, so I choosed only the Canon task, This printer don't appear listed but the others mentioned.  ???
It isn't very molest, though I'll be happy not see them. :)

I asked for help for another question related with my printer: installing the downloaded drivers.
I found 10 links related to my printer, downloaded 6 (4 are debs). Two of them are in tar.gz.
Now, I don't know which of them are the good ones nor how install them. I've no idea how to work with the command line. I tried for a week Mageia 2, and there was the same problem no having the drivers for my Canon But... nothing more downloaded, the drivers were installed authomatticaly! As I read, it also came out from Mandriva, like PCLOS.
Please help me. Thanks.

Please start a new thread asking for help with installing Canon drivers.

Be sure to give the exact model number of the printer.

Also give the link to the driver you wish to install.

PCLOS does not use .deb packages  ;)
