Well I guess it is time to look at software settings in KsCD and Dragon Player. Because I have a music CD in one drive and a video DVD in the other drive and both are working. Exaile is playing the music CD and smplayer is playing the movie. I can pause either one and start the other and they both work.

Apparently you helped me cover all the hardware settings and there is nothing else to check. I will mark solved once I am sure.

The hardware problem seems to be gone. As for the software problem I haven't tried to figure it out yet just not that important.
