(SOLVED) can't install liberoffice
« on: November 07, 2012, 12:03:26 PM »
I've tried to install liberoffice, but I'm told to update my system.  I check the error file and this is what I get:

Reading Package Lists...
Building Dependency Tree...
The following packages have been kept back
   kde-edu-marble (4.8.3-2pclos2012 => 4.9.2-1_archie_2012)
   kde-graphics-gwenview (4.8.3-2pclos2012 => 4.9.2-1_archie_2012)
   kde-graphics-ksnapshot (4.8.3-2pclos2012 => 4.9.2-1_archie_2012)
   kde-plasma-addons (4.8.3-2pclos2012 => 4.9.2-1_archie_2012)
   libkdcraw (4.8.3-2pclos2012 => 4.9.2-1_archie_2012)
   libkexiv2 (4.8.3-2pclos2012 => 4.9.2-1_archie_2012)
   libkipi (4.8.3-2pclos2012 => 4.9.2-1_archie_2012)
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 removed and 7 not upgraded.

This is after doing an update with synaptic.

Indeed you are out of date. It appears that you have files left over from and upgrade/update to version 4.9.2

I would imagine that the 4.8.3 files will have to be removed manually and their updated versions installed. If it were me, I would make a list of the old files, and them removed them. NOTE: watch what else they may want to remove. And then install the updated version 4.9.2 of said files.

On my machine I have most of the ones you have listed in the newer 4.9.2 version. I updated my machine this AM and was able to update LibreOffice.  Hope this helps!

KenB44,
You could open a terminal and type:
su then press enter
type your root password and press enter
then type lomanager --no-updatetest and press enter

then follow the prompts

Open Synaptic, mark only the three lib packages for update

libkdcraw
libkexiv2
libkipi

After install check again for hold packages, you should be good to go for the install with lomanager now.
