internet configuration changing
« on: November 07, 2012, 11:52:07 AM »
I'm having trouble getting on / stay on the internet.  This only started after installing 2012 version.  I have found that the encryption mode changes from  "WPA / WPA2 pre shared key" to "open WEP".  When I make the change to WPA/WPA2 I can use the internet for a while & when it stops working I go back and check the encry, mode and have to reset it to "WPA/WPA2" from "open WEP".  I've installed the 2012.09 iso with the latest updates from synaptic.

I know of no solution presently.

It's no problem with my Netbook AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter + WPA2-PSK.

The only solution I have found is to delete ALL the NIC connections in PCC - Networking, and then create a new one, checking that the correct encryption is used for the connection.
You might have to do it a couple of times before it sticks, when it is troublesome.

Thanks Just17, I've tried your suggestion and it seem to be working.  I'll try it for a few days and let you know how things are working.
