installed e17 on top of my minime distro

i was wondering cani or should i remove kde..and if i do what files to remove....lol i just want to know if it is a good idea..im not afraid to do it .....just want some advice

Minime IS kde; so if you remove kde, you will remove your install.  Not a good idea!

i did removed kde files from my install, for the latest update from kde 4.6.5 to kde 4.8.3

i ended with only console tools but os kept functional, i could run synaptic and install the new kde in console

you would have to install e17 first, then remove kde core and other important kde files while running e17, it will pull alot of files with it, if it pulls e17 too, then don't remove certain files, it will say what it wants to remove with it

if you are ready to break it if the procedure doesn't work, i would do it but since it is easier to have both e17 and kde without any problem, i wouldn't remove kde, just leave it unused, just as i did in the pat with gnome2, i had it as a backup desktop but in 2 years never used it so removed it

well yea i have e17 already installed i am not afraid to try it i got it booted to a simpletech blackberry portable drive since the case cracked 130 gigs or so i have no important files on it  those are on my maxtor so iwas goin give it a shot...here is to the mad scientist bwhahahahahahaha

here i go i have a usb drive with the mini me on it any thing go wrong i will just reinstall it on the hard drive......thanks sling shot i will keep you guys updated

well im back i took off some stuff  like kde base and it pulled dolphin , kde password,k dialog, k find , plasma, ark, konsole, konsle - part   i also took out
automoc4
kde/plasma theme
kde config legacy
kde admin
kde 4 no blank 
tat sounds about right i kinda spilt juice on my list....
i restarted it and yea im back checking things out .... i will come back from time to time to let you know what happen

well i will have to down load a file browser that is the only thing i found so far....lol

e17, can't remember what filebrowser it uses, you can use pcman filemanager, is very good

there is others but can't remember names, to avoid using dolphin

thunar, pcmanfm, rox, spacefm (if it's in the repos), you got a few choices.

Just a question: why didn't you use LXDE Mini? is more light than KDE.

BTW Why not use Virtual Box? and don't tell me "real men don't use Virtual Box"

before i did this one i had the regular kde version ....i tried phoenix edition and lxde and i finally decided on the kde minime which was the lightest .....so after a game of spin the bottle by my self it landed on mini me...virtual box never worked to well for me and i always believed that to get the full out of a linux distro it should be downloaded to a hard drive by its self no dual boot......and yes i am a real man ...lol
