SOLVED krdc gone
« on: November 05, 2012, 10:14:47 AM »
PCLos newbie here so please forgive me in advance if I'm doing anything wrong here. Apparently an update removed krdc and krfb from my system.
I'm running KDE Full Monty 2012.09. I can still connect to the Windows remote desktop I need to use with rdesktop, but I much preferred using krdc and would like to get it back, but it doesn't seem to be in any of the repo's. I'm coming over to PCLos from Linux Mint Debian Edition because I wanted a faster updating rolling distro and I liked what I saw here until this happened. Is there any way I can get krdc back?

Install/reinstall kdenetwork-krdc-krfb with synaptic.

Guess this solve your issue.

Edit: looks like this KDE 4.9.2 package is missing in repository.

Tried that already. That package doesn't show up in my synaptic. I have tried several repo's and that package never shows. I am hitting the reload button after changing repo's.

It's missing in repo.

Maybe the KDE packager have to look at it!
Did download the kde 4.9.2 kdenetwork tarball and see krdc-krfb source is available.

I tried rdesktop directly or through tsclient.
One problem is I cannot switch between the remote desktop and local desktop. There is no tab at the top or bottom to minimize. I can only disconnect from the remote desktop.

You also might want to try freeRDP.

Gregg.

Tried that before krdc was fixed.  All I got was this:

reerdp:

Package freerdp has no available version, but exists in the database.
This typically means that the package was mentioned in a dependency and never uploaded, has been obsoleted or is not available with the contents of sources.list

jmrice420 - I just installed freeRDP from the repository. You may have a repository problem (not something I can help with I'm afraid).

janasx1 - freeRDP uses the same shortcut key as rdesktop to exit/enter full-screen: ctrl-alt-enter.

Gregg.

Thanks Gregg.

Has anyone tried NXClient for RDP?
