Resolution Not Being Saved
« on: November 02, 2012, 10:58:24 AM »
Hi,

I recently resetup my video driver (using XORG -> ATI) and my default settings are no longer being saved upon reboot. Every time I restart, i need to go to configure my computer and reset my monitors to 1280x1024 each and then make an offset of 1280 on one of my monitors. I click save as default but it doesn't seem to work.

I looked at /etc/x11/xorg.conf and I see my display settings are fine..not quite sure what to do from here... Thanks!

Not quite sure what you mean by "set it that way". The way I set it is through "Configure your desktop -> Hardware -> size and orientation"...

Instead of using Configure My Desktop, use the PCC (configure my computer)

Press PCC button > enter admin password > click on Hardware > Configure your Video Card.

Under Monitor, you will probably have a suggested type (mine says hp L1702)
With Resolution  click on the value showing which will produce a drop down menu - you might have to go for Other to find your desired resolution. After accepting the new setting, and Quit, leaving PCC, you will need to log out. No need to reboot - just log out will do. When you log back in again, your new setting should have taken effect and, more importantly, will persist from then on. This resolution here is 1280 X 1024 and it is locked in. With the laptop however, I use 1366 X 768

Good luck,
