Screen settings not held by system
« on: November 02, 2012, 02:46:10 AM »
Hi All

Can anyone assist me with the following please.

I'm running ver 2012 with the latest updates but have a resolution problem. When I first installed everything was OK but now when whenever I start the computer I get a 4:5 image on my 16:9 monitor.
I have to go into Configure Display Settings and change Resolution from 1680x1050(Auto) to 1600x1000 and Output from None to VGA1. I select "save as default" and apply and I now have the correct screen on my monitor.

However the next time I re-start the computer the Default has NOT been saved and we are back to 4:5 layout.

Is the another way of setting the values that work for me please??

Thanks a lot

IanW,

From my experience, resolution problems are best dealt with in the PCC (Configure your computer)

Press the PCC button (circle with a wrench) and, after entering your admin password, select Hardware
> Configure video card.

First, under Monitor, choose your particular type (mine is Flat Panel 1366X768)
Then, under Resolution, if the desired setting is not shown, choose Other and there you will find an exhaustive list. Make your selection and after pressing Quit, you will be advised to log out to make the settings stick. No need to completely reboot  just log out and then back in and you should be good to go.

Good luck

Thanks 'agmg'
I followed the link and tried it but it makes no difference!!

Thanks also to Jim
I followed your idea but again it makes no difference!!

Everytime I start the computer it comes up in 4:5 and I have to go to Display Setting and change the resolution by hand to get my 16:9 screen back.

This 4:5 setting must be stored somewhere else!!!???

ianw,

See if the following minor change helps:
Set your desired resolution. Apply. Then, after having applied, Save as default.
