Bloqueos continuos linux

Hola: hace poco que arreglé mi ordenador (problemas en el micro y 2 hd's averiados) y ahora funciona correctamente y sin problemas en w7.

Quería poner de nuevo pclinux para mí y dejar el w7 para los niños pero tengo un problema: linux (he probado con otras distros por si era de pclinux) se congela.

Estoy trabajando con el navegador o simplemente abriendo synapctic y la pantalla se congela. Tengo nvidia y dos monitores con twin view y algunas veces unos de los monitores entra en suspensión y el ratón aparece por el otro monitor, pero da la casualidad que no tengo ningún icono en éste y no puedo comprobar más nada.

No funciona el terminal (F1/F6)...pero sí el REISUB y es la única forma que tengo de reiniciar.

¿qué debo mirar? ¿por qué linux con el mismo hwd se bloquea y linux no? Linux funcionaba antes sobre este mismo pc...y lo unico que le he cambiado es el HD.

Is the HDD correctly set  in BIOS?

It should not be using "Compatibility Mode" but should be connected as AHCI. (If these modes are available in the BIOS)

Compatibility mode was for Windows before it was able to access SATA drives, IIRC.

I had HD set in BIOS on Sata mode (not compatibility mode). Do you refer to that?

I have 2 HD in the PC: 1 sata and 1 IDE. My linux is on the ide drive.

Yes, that is what I referred to.
I thought it might have been incorrectly set.

Have you set up the correct video driver for your graphics card?

I am working with the browser or simply opening synapctic and the screen freezes.

Is it possible for you to run some monitoring programme to see if some particular software is causing the freeze?
Maybe run  top  in a terminal so that it is visible in case of freeze?

That should show what is consuming resources ....

Which version of PCLOS have you installed?

i've histalled full-monty 2012-09 version, but it happens with linux-mint.

I hope "sata" in BIOS it is correct.

I have to update the system. I'll try if the systems doesn't hangs.

I'll comment after a total update.

Es posible que lo que tienes es un problema de hardware, particularmente con el disco duro en el cual tienes instalado PCLinuxOS. Por los sintomas, puede que lo que tengas son sectores con problema en el disco IDE, o problemas con el cable de este.

Te sugiero descargar el Hiren's Boot CD, crear un CD de arranque, y correr los diagnosticos para el disco duro. En particular, H-DAT puede incluso reparar algunos sectores defectuosos, y recuperar completamente el disco.

La configuracion del SATA en el BIOS no debe tener ningun efecto, ya que el disco de Linux es IDE. De hecho, puedes poner la configuracion de SATA en modo AHCI, que es el recomentado tanto para Windows 7, como para PCLOS si decides instalarlo en un disco SATA, tal como te sugiere Just17.
Tambien puedes probar usar Linux con el disco de Windows desconectado. Cuando un disco tiene algun problema, puede causar que el sistema operativo se congele aun si el problema es en un segundo disco.

It's possible that what you have is a hardware problem, particularly with the hard drive where you have PCLOS installed. The symptoms may indicate problem with some defective sectors, or perhaps the IDE cable.

I would suggest you to download Hiren's Boot CD, make a boot CD and run the Hard Drive diagnostics. In particular, H-DAT can even repair defective sectors in some cases, and recover the disk almost completely.

The SATA configuration in the BIOS should not have any effect, since you have Linux installed in an IDE drive. In fact, you can put the SATA configuration in AHCI mode, which is the one recommended both for WIndows 7 and PCLOS in case you ever want to install it in a SATA drive; as Just17 suggests.
Also, you can try running PCLOS with the Windows drive disconnected. When a hard drive is having problems, it can cause the OS to freeze even if the problem is in a secondary drive.

Ahora tengo puesto una opción diferente en la bios y por ahora no se ha bloqueado. Tengo la version fullmonty actual 2012.09. Estoy haciendo el update en synaptic. ya os cuento.

veo que usa kernel 3.2, que procesador tiene?  no mensionó el resto del hardare

ha probado con el kernel 2.6.38?

sobre cpufrq, solo es util si esta en un laptop o netbook para salvar bateria, en equipos de escritorio realmente es mas problema que solucion a menos que sea un amd que lo pueda hacer bien desde bios

Yo uso cpufreq en dos escritorios aquí.
Es muy útil para mantener los requisitos de refrigeración hacia abajo y por lo tanto mantener el ruido del ventilador a un mínimo.
Es muy útil en los escritorios.

si el hardware lo soporta como en cpus amd, si sirve, pero en general da problemas, solo espere a encontrarlos y vera que es mejor apagar esa opcion

lo siento...es imposible. en menos de 3 minutos el sistema se congela y no puedo instalar otros kernels ni nada.

lo curioso es que antes funcionaba con este mismo hw, pero todos los linux que estoy probando se congelan....es posible que todos los kernels sean de la rama 3.x ...pero...tampoco veo motivos para ello.
