Galaxy S3 USB Mass Storage
« on: October 26, 2012, 11:57:54 AM »
So does anyone out there have one of these Galaxy S3s and were you able to mount it as USB Mass Storage?
I used to have a Galaxy S2 and had no problem just plugging it in and going through a couple warning screens to have complete access to the phone and the SD card.  Of course I had rooted it and had installed a custom ROM but, hey!
Now I upgraded to the Galaxy S3 and have yet to find the exact circumstance when I need to watch a mini-video and text or do anything else at the same time but it's pretty slick.  I have rooted it and installed CWM Recovery Touch but that's all.  I tried a custom ROM and wasn't happy so went back to "stock" (except rooted).  When I plug it into the my Linux box it either recognizes it as a camera or a media device but not as mass storage.  Even weirder is that if I plug it into a Windows XP box it sees everything, one directory called "phone" and the other called "card".  I think the reason is that the Window PC has Keis installed along with the Samsung drivers.  Synaptic doesn't have the Samsung drivers and Heimdall wouldn't either which makes me wonder if it work since Odin in Windows always required Keis to get the drivers.
Anyone?

I think what you are seeing is an Android issue.

Thanks.  I guess I'll try that Airdroid solution.  The frustrating thing is that the Galaxy S2 had the USB storage mode and the S3 simply doesn't.  The annoying this is that it works in Windows but not in Linux - I hate when that happens.
