When I minimize a window it no longer appears on the task bar!!! How do I restore this function?

When I minimize a window it no longer appears on the task bar!!! How do I restore this function?

Are you running KDE? Then you have to add a task manager widget to your panel. (With widgets unlocked, click the panel cashew, click "Add widgets", navigate to "Smooth Tasks"  and double-click it.)
