Default username on the install login screen for xfce
« on: October 24, 2012, 10:39:44 PM »
I have spent the last 4 hours trying to figure out the default username (I think I figured out the password). Scoured the web, still can't seem to find it. I'm blind in one eye and can't see out the other.
It seems like it should be easy to figure, but to no avail.

What is the default username and password (I'm sure I will kick myself when I see it)

Would like to install to hard drive, just can't get past the login screen.

Of what use be there for joy, if not for the sharing thereof?

Thank you Old-Polack.

EDIT: root/root worked as well.

Yes quite true, about root:root but if you are new to Linux avoid login in as that because you can accidentally mess up the system something amazing.

Using guest:guest it takes a little longer   ;D

Hi Andy,

I have been there playing with other distros.

I may be speaking out of turn now, if so apologies, here goes.

There is a package in synaptic called orca

"GNOME screen reader for people with visual impairment
A flexible, scriptable, extensible screen reader for the GNOME platform
that provides access via speech synthesis, braille, and magnification."

If you are using KDE should be fine. I have not tried it

Also some quick key bindings:

Left Ctrl and scrollwheel may alter text and image size

In firefox Left Ctrl and + key does similar

Also I saw this excellent article in distrowatch which may be of interest:
