Digikam removed after KDE4.9.2 upgrade
« on: October 24, 2012, 09:05:23 AM »
I performed the KDE 4.9.2 upgrade from PASS and synaptic removed digikam.
I tried to reinstall digikam after the upgrade and received this message from synaptic.

digikam:
 Depends: kipi-plugins
 Depends: libdigikamcore.so.2
 Depends: libdigikamdatabase.so.2
Depends: libkdcraw.so.20  but it is not installable
Depends: libkexiv2.so.10  but it is not installable
 Depends: libkface.so.1
 Depends: libkgeomap.so.1
 Depends: libkipiplugins.so.2
Depends: libkipi.so.8  but it is not installable
 Depends: libkvkontakte.so.1
Depends: libmarblewidget.so.13  but it is not installable

I Just wanted to let the developers know of the issue and hope when they have time they can fix the issue.

Looks like there's more wrong then digikam/kipi plugins.

I was holding off updating to the 4.9 release because of this...it seems to be OK now.  Updated, and digiKam came in at v2.9, seems to be good!

Thanks to all the packagers who got this fixed!

An hour or two back updated from the repos and all seems to be fine. Seems like the 'DigiKam et al probs' have been solved.
Thanks to all concerned.

Thank you!!

P.S. Shouldn't the subject line be changed to [Solved] ?

I am running KDE32 Platform 4.9.2 fully updated, when I upgraded from ISO I removed Digikam because of the problem. I do not see Digikam marked as upgrade when I check with Synaptic status?

I only see Digikam Version 2.9.0-1pclos2012 in my Synaptic is that what is being installed successfully?   :)

If it is not installed you can hardly expect it to be marked for an upgrade!

I am not offended in any way, I should have worded my reply better, I am rushing things a bit too much presently  ;D

I am embarrassed that I did not do some better searching as it did occur to me that since I had uninstalled how could it be marked for an upgrade.  Coffee break tomorrow I will install Digikam and see.   ;D

When I finally got time to install it worked fine.  Had a very quick look to see what it was capable of.  I will be back to look closer at the software.   :)
