Lost sound on newer pclos versions.
« on: October 19, 2012, 06:11:13 PM »
System: Gigabyte GA-78LMT-2SP, 16G memory.
Problem is no sound with recent pclos's.
Sound is fine with pclos kde from about 27-7-12, but not 2012.02, or FM from Oct 2012.
Correct driver shows (snd_hda_intel), but I cannot find out how to get these later versions to work. I have run alsaconf, which claims all is well!
I need some inspiration from some kind person please!

Hi,
Therein lies a problem...... in 'settings' of 'kmix' I can only see the mic channel, ALL others are simply absent... i.e. there is ONLY mic channel in display. This is obviously the problem, so how do I get the rest back? Sound chip is ALC887-VD.

Install Qasmixer ......  it shows everything ......  and a lot more than most need or understand  :D

You might find something that is disabled or muted or such .....

Qasmixer replies: Mixer device couldn't be opened
and gives:Error: connection refused

What next please?

More info:

[john@localhost ~]$ pulseaudio --use-pid-file=false
E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Daemon startup without any loaded modules, refusing to work.

So which modules, and how do I load them?

Let me know if the second post in the link is helpful .....  I suggest a reboot after any changes.

Of course it is only applicable when using PA ....
