Saving bookmarks for a new install

Like many I've been using Linux for quite a while but don't know all the in's and out's. How would I go about saving all my bookmarks to a thumb drive for a new install and then insert them to that install?

In Firefox, go to Bookmarks>Show All Bookmarks>Import and Backup. Choose Export to HTML.

In addition to gandy's sound advice (and it's browser shortcuts)  you could use the XMarks add-on/extension which stores your bookmarks which can then be added to any new/different system you use.

And Firefox's own "Sync" seems to have, more or less, caught up to Xmarks.  And it works with Mobile Firefox, as well (just synced my Nook with my laptop).

Of course, both are rather Firefox centric - if you're using something else, copying the profile may ba about all you can do.

XMarks supports 4 browsers: Firefox, Chromium/Chrome, IE and Safari but not, alas, Opera

In about:config you can set browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML to true and it will save bookmarks.html into your profile directory every time you shut down Firefox.  Then you can back that up wherever you want.
