sofar this newbie only used the guest-profile to work on his PC. I just created my own account, but would like to skip all the tweaking I did (as guest), also because I'm not sure If I can duplicate it all.
Is there a way (I guess from the live-CD since the USB can't be accessed while persistent) to clone everything (from menus to wallpaper etc.) to my new account? Does this include the programs I've downloaded to the system as guest?
thx in advance,
wiko
I am not quite certain about your set up ...... but it appears you are running a LiveUSB in persistent mode, and have created a new user account in that which you want to make as close as possible to the guest account in the LiveUSB which you have tweaked.
At least I hope I have understood correctly .....
The LiveUSB is accessible while running live .... or at least it is when created with the PCLInuxOS- LiveUSB creator.
On that you will find a "changes" directory.
Within the changes directory you should now find a top level directory named after the OS you installed, and underneath that a "home" directory.
Within the "home" directory you should find further directories for the users of the OS.
A "guest" directory will be present if you have tweaked the guest account, and also a directory for the new user.
You should be able to copy files from one to the other ....... just remember to edit the ownership of the files you copy to reflect the new user name.
It should be possible to copy all the contents of the "guest" directory to the new user and do a blanket change of ownership on the lot.
Be sure to enable viewing of 'hidden files' as the majority will of this type I suspect.
I have not done this so I might not be accounting for everything ......
Make sure you have sufficient space on the USB partition to copy the files.
All extra programs you installed will be available to all users.
HTH.
