dangbert,

You're welcome! It definitely makes my day, when a suggestion of mine actually works.  All to often, such is not the case.

Old-School, it seems I spoke too soon.  After I had rebooted a couple of times the blanking is back.  KDE4-noblank is still installed, in fact I re-installed it just in case the script had been overwritten or deleted during an update.  Same problem, the screen blanks after 10 minutes.

Just17, a couple of things.  The placement of "noblank.sh" is in /usr/bin not /../../kde4/autostart.  I did place a copy in autostart, after making the additions suggested in the second of the two links.

The additions did not make a difference, the screen still blanked after 10 minutes. I was running kernel 3.2.18.pae.bfs.  I downloaded 3.2.18.bfs and the blanking problem went away.  So there is something in the kernel 3.2.18.pae.bfs that is causing the blanking.

Thanks for the help
