Backintime launch failure
« on: October 09, 2012, 03:44:29 PM »
Dear all

I can't get Backintime-kde4 to launch. When I try to launch in Konsole I get the following message :

[root@localhost ~]# backintime-kde4
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/share/backintime/kde4/app.py", line 43, in <module>
    from PyKDE4.kdecore import *
RuntimeError: the PyQt4.QtCore module is version 1 but the PyKDE4.kdecore module requires version -1

I have checked all the dependencies and they appear to be installed. I've not come across a solution despite a bit of searching.

Can anyone offer any suggestions.

Thanks

Morph

Do you have

python-qt4
python-qt4-core
python-kde4

installed?

I cannot reproduce your problem here .....  but thought there might be something needed that is not in the Minime ISO and thus not installed.

That's what I wondered - would there be any value in re-posting as a mini-me thread ?

I doubt it .....  plenty have read the thread, but obviously no one has an immediate solution for you  :(

In addition, duplicate posts are frowned upon  ;)

Seems you were not alone with the problem

A solution would appear to be to use the 'gnome-backintime' package  ;)

Oops, I followed the German forum link and posted my reply there by accident wondering why all I saw after was in German for a minute.   ;D

Just wanted to say as a FYI that I have the same error on my fully updated system with the mentioned python packages installed but I installed PCLinux from the pclinuxos-kde-2012.08.iso 1.3Gb version.
