[Solved] Newbie - I miss packages from the repo
« on: October 12, 2012, 12:43:35 PM »
Hi Guys,

I am a newbie who has just given a try to pclinuxos and I am stuck right at the very beginning. I was looking for subversion in the repository but it is not there. Since it is quite a common program and it is not in the default repository I think that there have to be another repositories, but I don't know where. The ones in the source.list seem mirrors to me.
Could you help me by pointing me to a guide or giving me link to the sources.list?

I used another distro and Debian before, but I never had another distro so far.

Thanks,
Zoltan

First of all welcome to PCLinuxOS and to the forum :)

You assumed correct: we use only one main repository and many mirrors, there are no alternatives or third-party repos.

Which mirror are you using? We have subversion, version 1.6.18.
For the whole world, you are someone.

It's in the updates section of the 32 bit repository.

In Synaptic, go to Settings-->Repositories, click the mirror you are using and add the word updates to the Sections line (if it isn't there). Click Reload and then do a search for  "subversion".

Thanks for the answers!
I forgot to run apt-get update (Reload) before the search, and only the packages from the install image were seen.
