<Solved-sort of>Broadcom with 2012.08

Hi to all,
My Brother has an Acer laptop with 2012.02 on and it works very well. He booted on 2012.08 and it will not work with the Broadcom wireless adapter. It also does not work with test 05 -64.
Do we know if there is a problem with the Broadcom driver in the later versions of PCLinuxOS?
Your thoughts, as always, gratefully  received.

When you say it doesn't work, do you mean that it doesn't show up as detected, or what?

My netbook has a Broadcom wireless card that for some reason gets detected as eth0 but has the normal wireless extensions.  Net-applet will not scan for wireless networks, and it won't show signal strength like usual, but drakroam lets me scan and connect just fine.

When you configure the network, what shows up?

Is the card recognized?

If you could give more details on what you are seeing it would be helpful.

Hi guy's,
Sorry no more data. I have only been told it does not find any network access points when fired up.
I have asked for more data from him.
I have also sent a copy of the link so he can try more experiments.

2012.08+test 05-64
Info on Broadcom ..
Firing up PCC and networks, then wifi, get to show the Broadcom 4311 but the 'wl' driver cannot find any devices.
We have followed the info given above, but to no avail.
It does appear that the new Broadcom drivers are giving problems in both the 32 bit, 2012.08 and test 5-64bit.
any thoughts??
