Quick Instructions:
-> install the latest version (3.6.2, see last post in this thread)
-> run: PCmenu -> Office -> LibreOffice Manager
-> read the messages in the popup-windows, they are provided for a reason... Roll Eyes
-> read the Important notes in this post, they are constantly updated and contain additional useful information for a successful installation of LibreOffice.
-> LibreOffice Manager will download LibreOffice and related files (Help, language packs) from LibreOffice. When a new LibreOffice version is available you will have to run LibreOffice LibreOffice Manager again to update to the latest LibreOffice version.
this is exactly what I meant.
cheers

As far as I know only lomanager is updated through synaptic, hence to get Base-Calc-Draw-Impress-Writer
updated you must have first the system fully updated and then launch lomanager which will update Libre Office.
No, this ^^^ is not what really happens when using the default repo's.
In an up-to-date system lomanager-3.6.1 only report what was already mentioned in the Quote in the first post.

You don't have to use lomanager to install LibreOffice. You can install it manually.

The approved way of installing it manually is what Pinoc calls an "Alternative offline installation", here: http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,59009.msg474655.html#msg474655.

But you cannot use the normal Synaptic repositories when you install it. It's too large for them. (Just consider the number of language modules.)

So as a service to the community Pinoc has created the lomanager - which will do all the work for you, and which you will find in the repositories.

But to install the last version of LibreOffice in this easy way you need a version of lomanager with the same version number as the LibreOffice you want to install. You can't use it to install earlier or later versions.

Using lomanager is a lot easier than installing LibreOffice any other way, so most of us gladly accept this restriction.

Out-of-the-box lomanager will also check that you are fully updated before it installs anything. Normally that is a good precaution.
Feed the trolls!
They need it!

Which version of lomanager do you have installed?
If you do not have it installed  please install lomanager first and then run lomanager.
I currently have 3.6.2 installed and it works fine for me.

Which repository are you using? Are you using the P.A.S.S. server.  My repository (pclosusers.com) was last update today at 10:00pm and lomanager is 3.6.1-1pclos2012 Also the main repository at ibiblio shows lomanager-3.6.1-1pclos2012.i586.rpm   2012-Aug-29 13:06:46   44.4K    application/octet-stream

Sorry for the late response, Yes I am using the PASS server.

Bald Brick,
from my commit log I see that on Oct 04 lomanager (3.6.1-1pclos2012)  has been updated to 3.6.2-1pclos2012.
after the update I run, as always done, lomanager to download and install  the updated version of libre office and related files.

There was a post somewhere about some update not yet being on PASS. I guess it was the big KDE update. That was what threw me off.

P.A.S.S. is updated first and then within 5-7 days the regular repos will see the updates. All the repos are mirrored from the main server at Ibiblio.org   As far as I know there is not set scheduled for any repo to sync with ibiblio.

I figured as much. We usually see this sort of thing when one person is using P.A.S.S. and another is using a standard repo.  This issue is not really a problem per say as the regular repos are usually updated within 5 days of when the program(s) show up in the P.A.S.S. server.

Welcome Dutchman.
research.

I use the Heanet repository which is still 3.6.1.....
I am just offered updates on my Netbook and lomanger -3.6.2-1pclos2012 is one of them, together with hdparm, libnotify and libnotify4.
It's from http://pclosusers.com/pclosfiles/ while http://ftp.headnet.ie/pub/pclinuxos/apt/ still has 3.6.1
I guess it's only a matter of short time before that one is also synchronized with the rest of the pack.
Anyway I can now install the Dutch language packs through lomanger-3.6.2 for the already (in the first post yesterday) manually installed LibreOffice-3.6.2 with the aid of Firefox.
I have been having a fight with an Acer Aspire D270
I will give my remarks on that one in the appropriate post whenever I can make useful remarks. ;)

And for the rest of the contributions: Thanks for clearing things.
I only want to emphasize that lomanger still has a problem in that it declares what is stated in the Quote of the first post and it uses Konquerror to show this link.
By following 1b) Alternative offline installation: >> a) if an older LibreOffice version is installed run lomanager and choose: Completely remove LibreOffice.<< and not showing the contents of >> LibreOffice 3.6.2 en_US packages plus installer for 32- and 64-bit can be downloaded from here: << I ended up without any LibreOffice.
Only by using Firefox to show here I could manually install LibreOffice.
And while I am now making remarks about lomanager, here is another one.
As it takes some time (especially on slower hardware) starting lomanger and the first screen with "Testing if system is uptodate.",it's maybe a good enhancement to show a screen with something like " I am working for you, please wait..." ;D

Hi atolboo,

Yep new one is in heanet. PClinuxOS has a small but talented team of developers, mostly volunteers. Updates arrive when they are ready.

Apply the new one in the Dutch language and see you around,

I still have to learn how to the .rpm packages for pclos.
And maybe I can do my contribution the way I have done so far for the .pisi packages for Pardus.
I can only tell that the PiSi package building (and maintaining) system is superior to the other systems.
I guess this is because it's the most modern system in linux.

Hi atolboo (Welcome Hollander rather than Dutchman)?,

There is a separate section for packagers. If you can do that I will even forgive you for the Raid on Medway:

"The Raid on the Medway, sometimes called the Battle of the Medway, Raid on Chatham or the Battle of Chatham, was a successful Dutch attack on the largest English naval ships, laid up in the dockyards of their main naval base Chatham, that took place in June 1667 during the Second Anglo-Dutch War. The Dutch, under nominal command of Lieutenant-Admiral Michiel de Ruyter, bombarded and then captured the town of Sheerness, sailed up the River Thames to Gravesend, then up the River Medway to Chatham, where they burned three capital ships and ten lesser naval vessels and towed away the HMS Unity and the HMS Royal Charles, pride and normal flagship of the English fleet. The raid led to a quick end to the war and a favourable peace for the Dutch. It was the worst defeat in the Royal Navy's history."
