Is 2012-08 kde a bad or flaky iso?
The panel stops functioning on some
The power mgmt is also bad causing bad shutdowns on all of them
Networking doesn't work anymore on one of them
things are slower on all of them
I cant remember the rest but will make separate posts from now on
2 laptops seem ok with 2012-08,
6 other machines are not and were rolled back already or getting done this weekend

I didn't install it wrong been at it a few times so I ask ...
Can this be fixed? I am hoping its not a deal where I must wait for updates and try in a month or two

And before you say gimme more info tell me which info please :)

"Is 2012-08 kde a bad or flaky iso?"

the only difference with the older iso is that the older iso had older kernel and new iso has new kernel apart from kde4.6.5 on the old and kde 4.8.3 on the new but i have used that version of kde for more than a month and all is ok here

did you used the same iso on every pc?

did you made a md5 checksum on the disk before burning it or using it as a liveusb?

after verifying the md5checksum, i would install older kernel on the machines with problems

you mention multiple machines so i assume that each have different hardware, each case is different

also i would verify what video card is being used on each machine and install if required the video card driver

no, but i verifed them all to be ok on media check after the fact and they were ok

yes, i also thought at first maybe it was my remaster so i did it clean from clean dvd

after verifying the md5checksum, i would install older kernel on the machines with problems
yes I actually tried that after reading it in the forum here but it did not help

video card drivers were used and were ok (as far as I know)
on my own machine i tried several reinstalls just to see, and that was from the same dvd which did up a dell laptop where that one has no issues with the new iso

trying later on with two more machines with that dvd
I will be glad to dig out as much info as you guys would like on those
IF REQUIRED maybe they will like it

I do plan to get back to my main one sometime, it's back in no updates land

"and that was from the same dvd which did up a dell laptop where that one has no issues with the new iso"

the video card on the dell is the same as on the other? if not, then this doesn't help, that is probably the case, each machine is a different case so we can't generalize here

pclinux is a rolling release distro, or you update it or you install form a new iso, how long has it been since you updated it?  have you installed kde 4.8.3?

you are not giving real information about the hardware on each machine and the exact problems so information that could be gathered here is not useful because we don't know the exact problem on the exact hardware, just that you say that you have many machines and have problems with them

i would post the exact machine and the exact problem, also if you burned the iso on the same burner, i would try to burn it on another burner, you don't say if it is a old burner but i think it could be so discard all possible sources of problems

that would also mean that you could try a liveusb install but all this ideas apply when you attack one problem at the time, not the way you are doing it now

OK understood makes sense too
I'll do one later double-checking all the way and will wait on others
I'll take time to gather the info but may need some direction here and there
Thanks

BTW nice job on hardware this release,
certain wireless now works where it did not before
I am sure there is a lot more
Hope 64 bit is coming, willing to be a tester if you'll have me
