I don't know if here is the correct location for this post, but just to let you know that the link to the Torrent for latest build is broken.

Could you please elaborate :

• 1. What exactly do you mean by broken? Is it that your torrent client did not recognise the .torrent file? Or that the .iso you downloaded was broken? Or that there were not enough seeds to complete the download?
• 2. What edition of PCLinuxOS were you trying to download?
• 3. Where did you take the alleged torrent from?

First of all, did you use Linux Tracker or some other source to download your torrent?

Every PCLinuxOS torrent contains two files: one .iso and one .md5sum.

Did you check the md5 hash of the file you downloaded?

In the directory where you have downloaded the torrent, open a terminal window and type:

md5sum -c name-of-file.md5sum

If everything is OK you will get a message. If not, then your .iso is corrupted.

I think Max was eluding to the fact that the actual *link* to the torrent file is broken at linuxtracker.org.

I just went there and tried to download the torrent file using the posted link: http://linuxtracker.org/download.php?id=8b45c9a1a38de28c0517705b3b0de38611823728&f=pclinuxos-kde-2012.08.torrent 

When clicking on the link, I just get: Can’t find torrent file!

Confirmed. All torrents have the same problem so it must be a linuxtracker issue.

It is indeed a Linuxtracker problem. I tried downloading some other torrents and all of them have the same problem...

If www.terasaur.org was fully up, it would have solved our problem altogether because it will automatically generate torrent for all of its .isos and also will be a primary seed.

Pending that, should we just host those torrents on a dropbox account and link to it from the main page / wiki?

We have a major problem with our torrents.

Linuxtracker was hijacked some days ago. On October 3, they published the following announcement:

Downloads not working...

You may notice that downloads for older torrent files are not working. The server was hacked last week through a different site that is hosted here. Who/what ever hacked the server removed files from random locations. Anything uploaded Prior to the weekend had the torrent files removed.

I'm trying to see if I can locate them in a back up however, I do not think that will be possible (as I am not sure I was backing up the torrent files due to the number of files...)

The offending code has been removed and the server has been tightened down yet again.

Since that day, all PCLinuxOS torrents are listed but can't be downloaded...
Providing not working links in our main page is not very helpful...

Ed, you should re-upload your torrents to Linuxtracker and all those who are seeding, should download and seed again the new ones.
Some torrents have been uploaded by pinoc.
The old torrents should be renamed and replaced with new ones.
I can help out by uploading/seeding.

Nice,
I cannot rename the torrents, my account is also broken.
I don't have acces to the torrents. Registerd twice on the same name.
I'll try to recreate new torrents.
How to name the new ones so it's clear to use instead of the former ?
Can also try to ask the Admin of Linuxtracker to remove all PCLinuxOS torrents so we can start with a clean list.
But will I be autorised to do so by our "Leaders"   ?

PCLinuxOS torrents are only listed in Linuxtracker. The actual torrents have been deleted.
So, no one can download them and it is useless to provide links to them in our main page until the problem is resolved.

I think creating new torrents with similar names will be confusing.
Deleting the old and uploading new ones under the same names would be ideal.
Maybe send a PM to Neal to bring this issue to his attention?

I can help you with this but my internet connection is not very fast (I have 70KB/sec max upload speed).
I can contribute by seeding the torrents when you have finished uploading them. I leave my laptop on 24/7.

Thanks for your attention. I believe we should really offer a working torrent option for the download even more so now since we have a larger default KDE .iso.

Beauty of torrents is that there is no need to upload initially. And the actual torrent file itself is very small. Contribute depending on your bandwidth. When we pool everything it becomes sufficient.

Requested Linuxtracker to remove all PCLinuxOS torrents so we can start a fresh rocksolid verified torrent database.
