Suggestion to assist problem resolutions
« on: April 26, 2013, 11:08:01 AM »
I would like to suggest that one or more of the technically savvy forum members create a sticky with the useful commands for assisting in problem resolutions.  In my year+ time of reading issues addressed in the forum I have seen many responders ask the poster to run various commands to obtain more information about their system.

Unfortunately, I never thought to copy all of the various commands.  Some I remember like uname -a, lspci, and a few others.  I have gone back to try to find others in previous posts, but have not been successful, and I am certain that I would not uncover all of the relevant ones.

So, what does everyone think of creating a listing of commands, what information they provide, and the type of problem where this information should be provided.  This could help posters provide the appropriate background information when the first post their question.

Sounds like a good idea.  I have used Google with limited success.
